The Arbitration Process

bryanlenox February 17, 2021

Arbitration occurs at the REALTOR principal level.  Some states have only broker licensees but there is usually one principal broker per real estate brokerage.  Many states have two tiers of licenses-brokers and salespeople who work for the brokers.  Additionally, appraisers are considered REALTOR principals if they operate an office that performs only appraisals.  If more than one person in the company has a broker’s license, only one of them is the REALTOR principal.

The terms used to identify REALTOR principal or the person in charge of the brokerage vary from state to state.  Some examples include:

  • Broker of record
  • Broker-in-charge
  • Managing or designated broker
